Vegetable flakes, pellets, frozen, freeze dried and live foods.
Algae wafers, live plants, peas, romaine lettuce, cress, zucchini squash, chickweed, and large vegetable flake and even breakfast cereal.
A well made spirulina food would be a good option.
Should be fed several times per day.
Will eat meaty foods as well, like beef heart, bloodworms and brine shrimp but, it is not advisable to feed them this. |

Be very careful of fluctuating water parameters, especially temperature and nitrates (replace your filter cartridge often).
Have a lid that fits well on the tank to avoid jumping.
A large area to swim and places to hide are also needed.
Use subdued lighting, bog wood, river rock and a dark gravel.
Plants are also recommended, but will likely be eaten by the Silver Dollar.
Filtering the water through peat would also be beneficial.
