Living

Food Preference:Omnivorous.
Opportunistic.
Food should be low in protein and high in carbohydrates.
Crustaceans, insects, and plant matter.
Should be fed a mix of special Goldfish food (flakes or pellets) and shelled peas, blanched leafy vegetables, and bloodworms.
Young goldfish should also be fed brine shrimp as a supplement to a normal diet.
If a trail of feces can be seen attached to the fishes body (at the cloaca), it is probably being fed too much.
Should only be fed as much as they can eat in two to four minutes and no more than twice a day.
Overfeeding will not increase the size of the fish but, could prove fatal.
In the wild: plants, plankton, detritus, insects, peas, lettuce, worms, larvae, small birds, tiny mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
